Doubles Tactics and Strategy

John and Tina have been playing mixed doubles together for over ten years. They have experience playing league, NTRP tournaments, seniors, national tournaments, league playoffs, and league sectionals. They know how to compete at every level, and they also know how to have fun at the same time.

In addition to their individual experience below, as a team John and Tina were ranked #1 in 5.5 mixed doubles twice (1993 and 1995), and they are currently ranked in Open, having reached two Open finals this year, winning one.

When they're not teaching the Doubles-Experts adult clinics, they teach the Youngster clinics at Eagle Fustar Tennis Development.

John Togasaki John has been a doubles specialist since he first started playing tournaments at age 10. He has been ranked #1 in men's 5.5 doubles several times and #1 twice in 5.5 mixed doubles with Tina.

He has been ranked as high as #13 nationally in the Men's 30s singles.

John has captained a men's 5.0 or 5.5 league team for the last ten years and has made it to sectionals several times, twice finishing in second place.

He has been a certified referee, is a member of the USTA/NorCal Adult Tournaments Committee, and is a member of the national USTA Adult Community Programs Committee. He is a member of the USTA NorCal Adult Tournaments Committee, the Elections Committee, and is the Parliamentarian for the USTA/NorCal Board of Directors.

John is a regular instructor at the Eagle Fustar Tennis Development junior clinics and at the Nike Tennis Camps at Santa Clara University.

Tina Okawa Tina played #1 doubles for the Claremont Mudd Scripps tennis team and was ranked as high as #12 in the country in NCAA Div III. She made the All-SCIAC first team and played #1 singles her senior year.

She enjoys playing tennis so much that she started teaching tennis as soon as she was old enough to be employed.

Tina has been ranked as high as #11 nationally in the Women's 30s.

Tina currently plays in league and has made it to Sectionals several times.

She also volunteers her time to help plan the Tennis for a Cause benefit at Los Gatos Swim and Racket Club.
